Alliance of Independent Representatives (AIR)
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is air?

AIR is a 501(c)6 non-profit professional trade association that advocates and promotes the interests of independent representation companies who connect creatives, resources + solutions across production, post, animation/ design/ VFX, music, and experiential with agencies, brands, and media companies.

Similar in nature to the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP), independent representation companies now have an organization dedicated to unifying and advancing our interests - AIR, the Alliance of Independent Representatives.

AIR is a platform for the independent representation community to advocate for best practices and industry standards and to provide tools and resources that help us better serve both our clients and agencies, brands, and media companies.

AIR provides two unique services to the industry Looking for Representation - where we match AIR members with companies seeking representation both nationally and internationally and Explore the Alliance - a resource for producers where they can search our AIR membership based on territory, state and country.

AIR’s Committees: Diversity in Talent, Evolution + Change, and Membership + Recruitment collaborate with other industry organizations to advance our common interests and goals.

What AIR is not.

AIR is not a union, a guild or a club.
AIR is not a lead-sharing collective or a complaint forum.
AIR is not a job board.

What is the role of a “rep”?

Independent Representatives are known by many titles - Rep, Agent, Manager, Connector, Business Development, Head of Sales, etc.

We handle an exclusive roster of creative clients who produce content including live action production, post production, animation/ design/ VFX, music, experiential, digital and interactive, photography, etc. and collaborate with them to create business development opportunities with agencies, brands, and media companies.

We don’t find jobs, we find business development opportunities.
We don’t do sales, we create connections and forge relationships.
We advocate, promote, build awareness, source talent, and showcase our clients’ work to the industry.

How is AIR structured?

AIR has an elected Board of Directors comprised of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Director-at-Large which handle the day to day of the organization. Additionally, AIR has three action committees: Diversity in Talent, Evolution + Change and Membership + Recruitment comprised of AIR members pursuing ever-evolving industry enhancing goals.
